Thoughts on the 20th anniversary of opening
Celebrating 20 years since opening
Shingo Yagi, General Manager CERULEAN TOWER TOKYU HOTEL
CERULEAN TOWER TOKYU HOTEL celebrated its 20th anniversary on May 24, 2021. We owe it all to your patronage and support that has enabled us to reach this major milestone, and for that we would like to express our sincere gratitude.
I have been involved with this hotel since the pre-opening stages, and for the past 20 years I have been watching the city and the hotel from Shibuya.
The widespread use of social media has brought about an era in which we can connect with anyone, anywhere, 24 hours a day, making the whole world feel closer, and it seems that our lives are now centered not on things, experiences, products, or services, but on how we spend our lives. Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly changed our lifestyles. In this new normal, I think many people have once again realized that the value created by gathering together, human interaction, and people caring for each other are essential. Hotels can play a role in such situations, and now is the time for hotels to step in.
Shibuya is currently undergoing a large-scale redevelopment project. With new buildings popping up one after another, it is the greatest compliment I can receive when someone says to me, "It doesn't look like 20 years have passed."
Since opening, we have adopted the design concept of "Choice, Tradition, Creation," and have adopted a simple design that makes use of Japanese regions and characteristics, rather than imitating Western styles. By "selecting" "Japan, Wa, Modern" from among the many options, we have created a place where "tradition" lives on, culture is disseminated, and new traditions and Wa are "created." Not feeling outdated means that we have been able to change into a form that is appropriate for the present. We believe that we have been able to evolve in an unseen way because we have carefully selected and passed on our traditions.
On the other hand, as mentioned above, our inner mindset, such as our sense of hospitality and our emotional connection with our customers, remains unchanged. We are now once again reminded of our unchanging desire to be a place that is loved by our customers.
To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we have adopted the theme "To a New Future - Bonds with You." In order to continue to provide high-quality experiences and performances to everyone who will live together in this new era, we will explore various possibilities and launch a movement that will connect to the future from Shibuya.
We look forward to your continued support in the future.
