TOKYU HOTELS & RESORTS CO., LTD. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO Jun Murai) and Fujita Kanko Co., Ltd. (Bunkyo Tokyo; President and CEO Yoshihiro Ise) launched the human resource development consortium "T&F Hospitality Lab" on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. By providing a learning opportunity with employees from other companies, such as conducting training together, the two companies aim to increase the motivation and improve the service capabilities of the workforce of both parties, leading to the securing and development of human resources.
As the COVID-19 pandemic gradually takes hold and travel demand is rapidly expanding, securing and developing human resources has become a challenge for the hospitality industry.
TOKYU HOTELS & Resorts and Fujita Kanko both operate a wide range of hotel and resort brands nationwide, and launched the "T&F Hospitality Lab" based on the common understanding that "companies that invest in human resources will survive." They uphold the philosophy that working in the hotel industry and interacting with customers is a very human job that contributes greatly to society, where the satisfaction and happiness of both customers and hospitality staff increases as they communicate with each other. Through training opportunities jointly set up by the two companies, the aim is to reaffirm the strengths of the company by implementing "cross-training" in the same industry, to enable young employees and other personnel to discover the joy of working in the hotel industry, and to improve their professional skills as hoteliers.
In fiscal 2023, the first year of the program, a total of 20 young employees (in their second or third year with the company) from the accommodation and food and beverage service department will be recruited, and a total of five training sessions, including practical exercises, will be held at both hotels. The aim is to help employees rediscover the joy of working in a hotel while cultivating the "power of awareness and intuition" and providing personalized service that does not rely on manuals. The first training session will feature Shoko Ryuzaki, CEO of Suisei Co., Ltd., who works as a hotel producer, as an external lecturer, and employees from both companies will be on stage as lecturers for the practical exercise session, sharing not only their skills but also the wide range of experiences they have had, to help them think about their future careers.
Starting with this joint training for young employees, "T&F Hospitality Lab" aims to provide training suited to age and career steps, and in the future to realize a mutual exchange program for human resources from both companies. The two companies will pool their knowledge and expertise to work together to develop each other's human resources.
