Internship agreement signed with Bohol University, Philippines

An industry-academia collaboration program to deepen mutual understanding through work experience at a hotel
Internship agreement signed with Bohol University, Philippines
Students will be accepted from January 2024.

TOKYU HOTELS & RESORTS CO., LTD.

TOKYU HOTELS & RESORTS CO., LTD. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Jun Murai) is pleased to announce that it signed an internship agreement with Bohol University in the Philippines (President Dr. Victoriano B. Tirol, III) and held a signing ceremony on November 14, 2023.

Japan and the Philippines have a long history of exchange, and in recent years have expressed their intention to further develop their relationship and "deepen mutual understanding through people-to-people exchanges," and it is expected that this relationship will be further strengthened in the future. Our company has also welcomed many technical intern trainees and employees from the Philippines, who are working hard at TOKYU HOTELS we operate throughout the country.

In light of this background, we have concluded this internship agreement with the aim of expanding employment opportunities for more Filipino students in Japanese companies and providing them with an opportunity to learn about hospitality in Japan. President Dr. Victoriano B. Tirol, III and four other officials from the University of Bohol came to Japan for the signing ceremony, and after the ceremony they visited HAKUBA TOKYU HOTEL where the internship will be held. HAKUBA TOKYU HOTEL is adjacent to the international resort of Hakuba Happo, and has many guests from English-speaking countries, so it will be accepting internship students from the University of Bohol who are fluent in English.

The University of Bohol is located on the island of Bohol in the Philippines, and has over 7,000 students. It has a "School of Tourism and Hospitality Management" that is closely related to our business, and is actively engaged in educating human resources for the tourism and travel industry. This agreement will encourage active participation by making internships at hotels operated by our company a "credit-accredited curriculum" at the university. Through practical experience in Japan, students will not only learn the Japanese language, but also improve their understanding of Japanese "omotenashi" (hospitality) and Japanese culture. Students who wish to do so will also be able to take the recruitment exam to work for our company after graduation.

In addition, as the number of foreign guests visiting Japan increases, the company expects this will lead to an increase in the number of employees with strong English skills, and aims to develop this into an industry-academia collaboration program that benefits both parties. This program is scheduled to begin accepting internship students from January 2024, subject to approval by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education.
