Introducing new razors made from plant-based, biodegradable materials
Expanded to 3 stores in January and 34 stores nationwide in April

TOKYU HOTELS & RESORTS CO., LTD. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO Jun Murai) is pleased to announce that it will begin introducing razors*2 made with Kaneka Corporation's (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO Minoru Tanaka; hereafter "Kaneka") biodegradable biopolymer Green Planet® (hereafter "Green Planet")*1 in three hotels starting in January, and gradually expand to 34 hotels*3 from April onwards. This will be the first time in Japan that a hotel chain will adopt razors made with Green Planet.

Razors using Green Planet will be introduced at KAWASAKI KING SKYFRONT TOKYU REI HOTEL from January 10th, SAPPORO STREAM HOTEL will have its grand opening on January 16th, and SHIBUYA STREAM HOTEL which will be rebranded on the same day, and will be gradually rolled out to 34 stores nationwide from April onwards.

Kaneka's philosophy of "Kaneka makes the world healthy. KANEKA thinks 'Wellness First'" is compatible with our company, which touts itself as a "hotel that is kind to the earth, the city, and people." Together, we have been working to change guest room amenities to Green Planet products in order to realize a sustainable society. Starting with toothbrushes in April 2022, we then introduced hairbrushes. We have now introduced razors as the third amenity.
As in the past, we have requested Kaneka to develop this razor. This time, it was jointly developed by Kaneka and Kai Corporation (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Hiroaki Endo, hereinafter referred to as "Kai"), which has the largest market share in commercial razors for domestic hotels. Aiming for a stable supply, we started by manufacturing a new dedicated mold instead of using Kai's existing molds, and through repeated trial and error, we were able to complete the product.

TOKYU HOTELS & Resorts established its Sustainability Policy in 2019 in order to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through its hotel business. This policy defines three sustainability goals (visions) - "Earth-friendly hotels, town-friendly hotels, and people-friendly hotels" - and six key sustainability themes (themes that we will focus on among social issues). With a deep awareness of the perspective of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), we will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through our hotel business.
