- Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and TOKYU HOTELS & Resorts launch full-scale recruitment partnership -

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd.
TOKYU HOTELS & RESORTS CO., LTD.

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (hereinafter "MOL") and TOKYU HOTELS & RESORTS CO., LTD. (hereinafter "TOKYU HOTELS & Resorts") entered into a consulting business partnership agreement for recruiting foreign talent in December 2022 (Note 1) and have been working to recruit foreign talent. MOL has now collaborated with a recruitment agency operated in the Philippines (Note 2) to conduct recruitment activities, and the first group of 18 technical trainees and cooks have completed their local training, arrived in Japan, and taken up positions at three hotels operated by TOKYU HOTELS & Resorts. (Note 3)

The technical trainees will be working in customer service at each hotel, while the chefs will be working in the kitchen preparing foreign cuisine.
In February of this year, a company information session and cooking seminar was held at the Manila training institute of Magsaysay, an MOL partner, by TOKYU HOTELS & Resorts president Murai and flagship hotel The THE CAPITOL HOTEL TOKYU executive chef Sogabe. More than 100 people participated in the event, which provided an opportunity for them to become interested in working in Japan.

As TOKYU HOTELS & Resorts expects the number of foreign guests to continue to increase in the future, the company has a goal of having 10% of its total employees be foreign nationals in the future, and the two companies will work together to recruit personnel toward this goal.

With the recovery of economic activity in the post-COVID era, the rapid recovery of foreign tourists and an increase in domestic travelers, the service industry as a whole, including the accommodation and food service industries, is facing a labor shortage, making securing human resources an increasingly important issue. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, which has introduced many foreign personnel based on its experience in recruiting and training foreign seafarers, and TOKYU HOTELS & Resorts, which operates a wide range of hotel businesses, have entered into a business partnership to utilize each other's strengths, connect workers and companies across borders, and contribute to resolving labor shortages in the service industry and the sustainable development of local communities.
