TOKYU HOTELS & RESORTS CO., LTD. (Tokyo Shibuya-ku, President & CEO: Jun Murai) is pleased to announce the release of Honbo Shuzo Co., Ltd. (Kagoshima Kagoshima City, President & CEO: Kazuto Honbo, hereinafter referred to as "Honbo Shuzo") at the Mars Komagatake Distillery (Nagano Kamiina-gun) "Single Malt Komagatake Special Edition Goto, hereinafter referred to as "Goto". will be on sale from Friday, November 1, 2024.

Since its founding, TOKYU HOTELS has not only provided delicious food, but has also valued the fun and richness of food in hotels, focusing on the preservation of traditional cuisine, the development of signature dishes, and accommodating allergies and vegans. In addition, to support this, including the development of chefs and other personnel, the company has implemented various measures under the slogan "TOKYU HOTELS is about food," such as holding an in-house cooking contest for over 20 years. As a new initiative, the company has launched a project to create a "drink" that will represent TOKYU HOTELS. "Goto" was born with the cooperation of Hombo Shuzo, which aims to "make authentic whiskey that makes use of the Japanese climate."

The whisky we made is based on our purpose of "creating a time that is fulfilling for people and towns," and the concept is "being close to our customers and creating a time that is fulfilling for them." This project was started from the desire to create memorable moments through whisky at various points of contact with customers, and in March 2024, four project members led by our president, Murai, visited the Mars Komagatake Distillery in Nagano to select the base liquor.

The base of this whiskey is Komagatake, a malt liquor from Hombo Shuzo, which has won numerous awards at competitions both in Japan and abroad. From among the elegant types, the deep sherry cask types, and the fragrant peaty types, new American white oak barrels were selected, which have a gorgeous aroma and can be suited to a variety of situations. Shigeki Yoshida, beverage director at BELLUSTAR TOKYO, A Pan Pacific Hotel, who was involved in the barrel selection, said that since whiskey is drunk in hotels in a variety of situations, such as before, during, and after meals, in this project to "be close to the customers," they placed importance on creating a whiskey that can be suited to any occasion.

The selected raw liquor was distilled at the Mars Komagatake Distillery in 2015, bottled in new American white oak barrels, and aged for nine years. The raw liquor was quietly aged at the distillery, surrounded by majestic natural forests at the foot of Mount Kiso Komagatake in the Central Alps, blessed with a cool climate and high-quality water. The single malt single cask Goto is a whiskey characterized by a balance of delicate aromas reminiscent of red berry fruits, dried figs, and Assam tea, as well as the sweetness of grains and the lingering aroma of wood. The aroma stands out even when mixed with soda, so it can be enjoyed as a pairing with a meal, or straight or on the rocks after a meal.

"Goto" will be sold by shot or bottled at the bars of 12 TOKYU HOTELS hotels (※1), and will also be sold on Tokyu Department Store's e-commerce site and at the Japanese and Western liquor sections of each store (※2).
