Children's Goodwill Ambassadors try their hand at calligraphy!

TOKYU HOTELS supports the Children's Forest project, a reforestation initiative in which children from all over the world participate on a school-by-school basis.
Every year, child goodwill ambassadors representing each participating school visit Japan and give a report on their activities.
This year, child goodwill ambassadors from Indonesia and Mongolia visited Japan and the event was held at CERULEAN TOWER TOKYU HOTEL.

The crowd went wild with the cry of "Smanger!" (Let's do our best!)

At the beginning, the president gave a welcome speech in the local language, and the audience was excited when he said the Indonesian word "Sumanggah!" (Let's do our best).
In a relaxed atmosphere, the general managers of the three Shibuya hotels were presented with certificates of support in recognition of their contributions to the Green Coin initiative.
In an introduction to their activities, the Public Interest Incorporated Foundation OISCA also showed how children are growing through reforestation in collaboration with companies.

Activity reports by children

In the children's subsequent activity reports, they passionately appealed for something to be done about the serious problem of forest loss in their own countries.
The participants were impressed by his earnest presentation, which he gave in a mixture of Japanese, and listened intently to what he said.

Children performing folk dance

The highlight of this year will be the networking event in the second half!
The children performed a folk dance for us, and we entertained them with Japanese culture.
During the origami experience, we made "shuriken" (a type of paper throwing star) together with the children. We were supposed to be giving a lecture to the children, but it was unexpectedly difficult, and even the adults had a hard time.
Despite all that, the head of management and Lafrey worked together to create an amazing shuriken.

Trying calligraphy for the first time in my life!

During the calligraphy experience, I tried calligraphy for the first time in my life! Thanks to the enthusiastic guidance from the president, I was able to write very well.
At the end, everyone worked together to write the words "Children's Forest Plan."
Despite the language barrier, the event was a great success as participants connected with each other through cultural experiences, and it was a great exchange filled with smiles.

The kids had a blast on the hotel room tour!

After the event, the children went on a guest room tour of CERULEAN TOWER TOKYU HOTEL.
We visited the newly renovated Japanese Suite and the kids had a blast seeing the uniquely Japanese design, including tatami mats and wallpaper depicting Mt. Fuji!
Furthermore, seeing the actual locations where Green Coins are installed and learning how their activities are being supported seems to have encouraged them to continue their work in the future.

This year marks the 17th year since we began supporting the Children's Forest project.
This meeting was a good opportunity for us to feel closer to the activities and realize our contributions.
