Exclusive for COMFORT MEMBERS Members

The 3rd Green Coin Forest Tour was held!

Every year, we organize a one-day bus tour to take COMFORT MEMBERS Members to the "Green Coin Forest" in Tanbayama Village, Yamanashi Prefecture. The purpose is to deepen their understanding of the Green Coin System by visiting TOKYU HOTELS' environmental conservation activities on-site, and to have them become familiar with the nature of Tanbayama Village and refresh themselves through agricultural and forestry activities.
This year's event was held on Saturday, October 27th.

Tour 1 day schedule

Morning Program

(1)

Arrived at Tanbayama Village, Yamanashi Prefecture

(2)

Climb to "Green Coin Forest"

(3)

Visiting the forest

Due to the rain from the previous day, the tree planting planned for that day in Green Coin Forest was cancelled.
However, while listening to explanations about the natural environment of the mountain from Tanbayama Village staff and forest professionals, we visited the forest of Tanbayama, which is the water source for Tokyo. TOKYU HOTELS planted 1,500 Yamazakura seedlings in the forest about 10 years ago, and as of April 2018, about 1,285 seedlings are growing there, but none have yet grown large enough to flower. They are often knocked down by typhoons or eaten by deer, and we realized that it is not easy for cherry blossoms to grow large in the natural environment of the mountains.

(4)

After descending the mountain, experience cutting logs and splitting firewood at the Communication Promotion Center at the foot of the mountain.

lunch

(5)

Dishes made with plenty of ingredients harvested in Tanbayama Village

We enjoyed a hearty lunch of homemade food prepared by the mothers of Tanbayama village, including salt-grilled Yamame trout, maitake rice filled with maitake mushrooms, a specialty of Tanbayama village, and hand-made soba noodles.

Afternoon Program

(6)

Digging up sweet potatoes and carrots in the fields, and sowing wild lettuce seeds.

(7)

A surprise appearance by Tanbayama Village's official mascot, "Tabasky"!

After interacting with Tabasky, we enjoyed bathing and shopping at Tanbayama Onsen Nomekoi-yu and the roadside station "Tabayama."

(8)

We arrived at CERULEAN TOWER TOKYU HOTEL in Shibuya and disbanded. Thank you for your hard work after such a long day!

Tour participants' comments

Below are some comments from members who took part in the tour.

  • What made a lasting impression on me was learning about the current state of reforestation during our hike into the forest.

  • I learned a lot, such as how forest regeneration is lost due to damage caused by animals such as deer.

  • Through the experience on the tour, I learned the importance of environmental conservation. I would like to use the Green Coin system when staying at a hotel.

  • It was my first time climbing a mountain, but I was able to enjoy the great outdoors with my children.

  • It's rare to find a tour with so much content that you can enjoy with your children. I would definitely like to participate again.

  • Even my daughter, who normally doesn't show much interest in whole roasted fish, ate a lot of the delicious local ingredients.

  • The explanations given by the Tanbayama village staff about the forest, the names of the plants and how they grow were very easy to understand, the forest environment was very comfortable and we were able to enjoy our hike.
