National Treasure Matsue Castle

The symbol of Matsue

Matsue Castle is also known as "Plover Castle" and has been ruled by successive feudal lords, the Horio clan, the Kyogoku clan, and the Matsudaira clan, since its construction.
When the Meiji era began and an order to abolish castles was issued, local volunteers bought it back and preserved it.
It is the symbol of the city of Matsue, and from the castle tower you can see the townscape below the castle, Lake Shinji, and on a clear day, Mt. Daisen in Tottori Prefecture.
In spring, many people visit the area to enjoy cherry blossom viewing.
July 2015: Designated as a national treasure

Kunibiki Messe
