Nishi Honganji Temple
The head temple of the Jodo Shinshu Honganji sect, affectionately known as "Onishi-san." The national treasure "Karamon" is so beautiful that it is said that the sun sets when you look at it, and it is also known as the "Higurashimon" (Sun-drenched Gate).
The area around the Buddhist altar exhibition across the street is known as "Goenmachi" (town of connections) and is filled with nostalgic streetscapes.

Toji Temple (Kyoogokokuji Temple)
The head temple of Esoteric Shingon Buddhism, also known as the Kobo Market. Founded in 796 when the capital was moved to Heian, it was later made the main training center of Esoteric Shingon Buddhism by Kukai. Its formal name is Kyoogokokuji. Its buildings, which are designated as national treasures and important cultural properties, include the main hall, lecture hall, and Daishido Hall. It is registered as a World Heritage Site.

Mibu Temple
This temple is associated with the Shinsengumi, and the graves of Shinsengumi members are enshrined in the Mibuzuka mound on the temple grounds. The temple flourished when Engaku Shonin founded the Mibudai Nembutsu Kyogen, a silent drama that incorporates Buddhist teachings into gestures and movements.
