The hotel's iconic chandelier
We will unravel the story of genuine pearls that have continued to sparkle for over 60 years.
Ho'oh" is a large banquet hall where people gather for various occasions, including weddings. Named after the symbol of THE CAPITOL HOTEL TOKYU, the hall features a carpet designed with ripples and the image of Ho'oh. When combined with the dedicated foyer, this main banquet hall is filled with calm and elegance and can accommodate up to 500 people. Six sparkling Ho'oh decorate the gorgeous banquet hall at "Ho'oh." Looking up at the chandelier, you can see genuine pearls with warm colors lined up on the inner ring.
These genuine pearls are the successors to the pearls used in the chandeliers in the Pearl Room, the hotel's main banquet hall before it was rebuilt. When the hotel opened in 1963, as part of its concept of "telling Japan," it used 3 million pearls (enough to make about 50,000 necklaces), one of Japan's most famous exports, to express a Japanese character that can be understood by foreigners.
These genuine pearls have witnessed countless dramatic events in the banquet hall, and some of them are still used today as the chandeliers in the "Ho'oh" room. When you visit "Ho'oh," which continues to mark a new era as a symbol of THE CAPITOL HOTEL TOKYU while continuing its history, you can enjoy the delicate sparkle of the genuine pearls shining down from the ceiling.
