Tokyo is an entertainment city, and there are many opportunities and places to experience fun things to do. Below are some of the hotel's recommended experiences that will make your time here memorable and fulfilling. Our concierge can arrange these for you, if you are a staying guest.

Experience traditional crafts in Tokyo

Meet a Geisha

Currently, geisha gather in a limited area called "Tokyo Rokugei." Akasaka is one of them. There are a few traditional Japanese restaurants in the town where you can meet geisha. Geisha continue to pass on the arts and entertainment that have been around since the Edo period. Why not experience the Japanese chic for a while while enjoying a meal at a traditional Japanese restaurant?

Enjoy Edo Kiriko (glass craft)

Edo Kiriko is a general term for cut glass products that have been produced in Edo/Tokyo from the end of the Edo period to the present. Unlike Satsuma Kiriko, which has a gentle cut and a fantastic shine, Edo Kiriko is sharp and sparkling. The patterns that emerge change depending on the cutting method, and the technique is attractive because it allows for many variations. Even beginners can feel free to enjoy making their own original glass.

Edo Kumihimo: A traditional technique alive in the downtown area

Kumihimo is a type of cord made by braiding thin silk or cotton threads, and was first introduced to Japan around the time of the introduction of Buddhism as a decorative cord for Buddhist altar implements, Buddhist scriptures, and scroll accessories. It was later used to decorate armor and swords, and as a belt for women, and in recent years, its range of use has expanded to include the creation of a variety of fashion items and goods. Enjoy the lustrous colors and texture of the threads while experiencing the beauty of handiwork completed on the braiding stand.

Try a cultural experience

tea ceremony

Experience the tea ceremony in an authentic tea room. This is a representative Japanese traditional culture that combines many arts, such as the etiquette of entertaining guests, the tea room decoration, tea utensils, and Japanese sweets, and you can feel the Japanese spirit, such as the spirit of hospitality and wabi-sabi.

flower arrangement

It is a traditional art that values the beauty of seasonal flowers and the preciousness of life by placing them in a vase, and also values etiquette. There is also an experience course where you can enjoy flower arranging while wearing a kimono.

Incense ceremony

Fragrant wood is burned according to a set method, and the different fragrances that rise from it are used to appreciate classical poetry, historical events, and scenes. It is highly literary and spiritual, and by distinguishing between different scents, you can enjoy being immersed in an elegant world.

Ninja experience and sword experience

You can also take seminars on "Ninja" and "Samurai," characters often seen in anime and movies, and enjoy training in each of them.

Bonsai experience

Traditional bonsai is a single standing tree in a pot, and the enjoyment comes from the overall added value of its age, the shape of the branches, the way it reflects in the pot, and the passage of time. While appreciating traditional bonsai, why not start by creating a more casual and gorgeous landscape depiction, a "Saika bonsai", in which plants are planted together like a small garden, in a more free-spirited way.
