Three-year garden renovation project completed
In late autumn 2022, the trees in the hotel garden that were in poor condition will be cut down, improving the views from the western guest rooms to the clean ones they were when the hotel opened in 1959. In addition, in the following summer of 2023, the land will be leveled and grass will be laid all over, creating a beautiful grassy plaza that will make you want to run around.
As the final step in this renovation plan, a new Northern Alps Observation Deck equipped with a swing will be completed in the spring of 2024 at the westernmost end of the garden, which offers the best views of the Hakuba Sanzan mountains in the Northern Alps. Guests will be able to use it from Saturday, April 27th.
What is the "Northern Alps Observation Deck"?
There is a swing on the top level of the stepped observation deck, where you can also sit and enjoy the view of the Hakuba mountains on a clear day.
We have also installed mountain identification boards, so that both those who have climbed mountains before and those visiting the area for the first time can enjoy seeing the names of each mountain at a glance.
The remaining trees are mostly broad-leaved, attracting small birds and insects, and in the early mornings they continue to chirp with their lovely songs. With safer footing, the garden is a place where children and the elderly can relax and enjoy their stay in the natural surroundings of Hakuba.
