In June, the Shimoda Hydrangea Festival is held in Shimoda Park, which is filled with 150,000 hydrangea plants and 3 million flowers.
The walking path from Perry Road is picturesque even on rainy days.
At Kaikoku Hiroba in Shimoda Park, there are rows of direct sales stalls selling hydrangeas and local products, and on Saturdays and Sundays the place becomes lively with events such as taiko drumming.
