Shimoda Marche's Best Sellers
Honey and honey products made by Takahashi Beekeeping in Shimoda, Izu are popular. They also have collaborations with nuts.
Shimoda-born lip balm, made from honey, beeswax, and jojoba oil by Takahashi Beekeeping, is a small travel souvenir that can fit in a handbag. The wonderful-smelling honey soap is made with Takahashi Beekeeping's additive-free, unrefined, natural pure honey and the milk of goats lovingly raised in the great outdoors of Hokkaido.
The "Itogaki" from Yamada Katsuobushi Shop in Shimoda Town is made from skipjack tuna instead of skipjack tuna. The thread-like shavings are made without the blood and have no fishy smell. Try sprinkling them on boiled vegetables, tofu, or salads. Their beautiful white color also makes them great for ozoni and simmered dishes at celebratory occasions.
There are also many products using Izu wasabi. "Wasabi and wakame" is a thick stem of wakame seaweed simmered with wasabi in a sweet and spicy sauce. It goes perfectly with warm rice.
