Head to Shimoda along the old road that the dancers took, making detours to Joren Falls, which will have you humming along to that famous enka song, the old Amagi Tunnel, and Kawazu's famous wasabi gourmet food!

The courses introduced on this page do not include a guide. They are just examples of what you can do on your own.

Joren Falls

It also appears in the lyrics of Sayuri Ishikawa's hit song "Amagi Koe."
This is a famous waterfall that feels cool even in midsummer.

Old Amagi Tunnel

The old Amagi Tunnel, which opened in 1905, and its official name is Amagi Mountain Tunnel, is located on an old road off National Route 414.
You can go through by car, but we recommend parking nearby and walking through the tunnel on foot.
You can experience the darkness of the tunnel, the chill, and the atmosphere of dripping drops.
Once your eyes have adjusted, take a look at the craftsmanship behind stacking the square stones.

Kawazu Nanataki Loop Bridge

As the name suggests, this bridge is located on the circular National Route 414.
Immediately after passing the loop bridge, there is a road that turns left towards Kawazu Nanataki Onsenkyo.
The loop bridge seen from the Nanataki area is also impressive.

Wasabi Garden Kadoya

The wasabi rice bowl that became famous after appearing on the TV show "The Solitary Gourmet" was filmed at Kadoya.
In addition, the "Tear-jerking Gourmet" prepared by the "Kawazu Wasabi Nakisatai" group, which uses Kawazu's specialty wasabi, can be enjoyed at the "Nakisatai Restaurant" in the Nanataki Tourist Center.

First View Falls

There is a dancer statue in front of Shokage Falls, one of the Kawazu Seven Waterfalls.
If you want to take a commemorative photo, this is the place to do it!
By the way, Nanataki is a collective name for Kama Falls, Ebi Falls, Hebi Falls, Shokage Falls, Kani Falls, Deai Falls, and Otaki, and the word "waterfall" is pronounced "taru" or "daru."

Mine Onsen Great Fountain

You'll cry if you miss the giant fountain that only lasts for about a minute, seven times a day!
The 100 degree hot spring water gushes up to a height of about 30 meters.

Kawazu Kinomiya Shrine

This is a power spot with pure air, centered around a large camphor tree that is over 1,000 years old and is a nationally designated natural monument.

Azusa Whimsical Shop

This is a farm shop in the mountains where producers from eastern to southern Izu bring their local vegetables, fruits, seafood, and processed agricultural products directly to you. They sell the bounty of the Amagi mountain range, the Pacific Ocean, and Suruga Bay, fresh vegetables grown with great care by farmers, and hard-to-find local grains. Citrus fruits in particular are inexpensive and delicious, and if the season is right, you should definitely buy fresh wasabi, wasabi leaves, and stems. Highly recommended.

Farm Produce Direct Sales Shop Shun no Sato

You can get fresh vegetables and fruits picked that morning. In addition to seasonal vegetables and fruits, there are also ready-to-eat items such as seasonal okowa (steamed rice), country sushi, sanma sushi, popular local buns, stone oven baked bread, and cakes, which are recommended for packed lunches and snacks while traveling.

Shinshin Kisen Ferry Terminal

In the novel "The Izu Dancer," the student goes to Tokyo and the group of dancers goes to Oshima.
I imagined that they all went back to different places from Shimoda Port.
Currently, the Shinshin Kisen ferry "Azeria" connects Kozushima, Shikinejima, Niijima, and Toshima.
