Let's protect the richness of the sea and the land
SHIMODA TOKYU HOTEL 's efforts toward the Sustainable Development Goals
TOKYU HOTELS & RESORTS CO., LTD. is working on SDGs across the entire company.
Each hotel has been working on environmental activities such as the Green Coin scheme for some time now.
Here we will introduce the unique initiatives that SHIMODA TOKYU HOTEL is undertaking towards the SDGs.
We are able to operate a resort hotel thanks to the beautiful sea and fertile land.
With gratitude from all the staff

Nabetahama Plastic Waste Zero Campaign
"From Nabetahama to the oceans of the world, our small actions connect the beautiful environment of the Earth."
The Nabetahama Plastic Waste Zero Campaign was launched in 2019.
We continue to carry out activities such as setting up trash collection points, making eco-bags, holding nature classes, eco-walking, and monthly beach clean-ups.
As of August 2022, the beach cleanup has been held a total of 50 times, with a total of more than 500 participants.
We will continue to carry out environmental conservation activities from Nabetahama Beach, right in front of our hotel.
We will collect the trash we collect!
Our guests and staff sometimes come across plastic waste on the beautiful beaches surrounding the hotel. To protect the beautiful environment, we have set up a collection point for rubbish that is picked up. We encourage our guests to bring any rubbish they find in the sea to the hotel throughout the year.
Nabetahama Beach Clean-up
It is held once a month on the last Monday morning. The tour departs from the hotel entrance at 8:30 and ends at Nabetahama Beach at 9:00.
Staff and customers will clean up the beach together, just like enjoying a walk to Nabetahama Beach. Local residents and neighboring tourist facilities can also join in. Anyone is welcome to participate. As a commemorative gift, participants will receive an original SHIMODA TOKYU HOTEL mini tote bag.
Paper Recycling
Recycling in everyday hotel operations
All paper originates from wood. Simply throwing away unnecessary paper leads to the waste of valuable forest resources. We collect miscellaneous paper and office paper generated during the hotel's daily operations, recycle the valuable waste paper, and return it to us as recycled paper.
SHIMODA TOKYU HOTEL 's paper recycling is carried out by the Corex Group in Fuji City, Shizuoka.
After that, the Fujinoyama Kusunoki Gakuen, a social welfare corporation located in the same city of Fuji, began producing toilet paper as part of its "independent living training (lifestyle training) project," "continued employment support project," "lifestyle care," and "employment transition support project" under the Comprehensive Support for Persons with Disabilities Act.
The toilet paper made from recycled paper in this way is used in hotel rooms.
Aluminum bottle recycling
Aluminum bottles for mineral water
Starting in July 2022, we will be gradually changing the containers for the mineral water provided free of charge in guest rooms at SHIMODA TOKYU HOTEL from plastic bottles to aluminum cans.
Because it is costly to turn PET bottles into beverage containers again, they are actually downcycled into clothing, etc. Meanwhile, the recycling rate (recycling rate) of aluminum beverage cans is 96.6% in fiscal 2021.
Furthermore, the can-to-can rate for recycling into aluminum cans is a high 67.0% (Aluminum Can Recycling Association/Toshima Ward, Tokyo).
By switching to aluminum cans, which have a high recyclability rate, we hope to reduce the burden on the environment as much as possible.
We would like to ask our customers to once again cooperate in collecting used aluminum cans.
Local production and consumption
Actively using local Izu ingredients
Locally grown produce and seafood are harvested or caught at the time when they are most nutritious and delicious, and can be enjoyed immediately. SHIMODA TOKYU HOTEL proactively incorporates seasonal ingredients into its menus.
From the perspective of the SDGs, it is said to be environmentally friendly, as it reduces CO2 emissions by reducing transportation costs and packaging. It also revitalizes local agriculture and fishing, which contributes to the SDGs' goals of "protecting the abundance of the sea" and "protecting the abundance of the land."
Becoming familiar with parasports
Boccia experience corner
Boccia is one of the parasports. SHIMODA TOKYU HOTEL will hold a sports garden during summer holidays and lunch events, where people of all ages, from small children to the elderly, can enjoy the experience of boccia. We hope that this will encourage people to become interested in and support parasports, and that it will eventually lead to the sustainable development goal of "health and well-being for all."
